Event Security in London
Corporate event security in London for conferences, product launches, and private functions. Terrorism-aware venue assessment, SIA-licensed close protection, and access.
Planning a high-profile event or product launch in London?
London is one of the world’s leading corporate event cities: home to a professional-grade events infrastructure, an established private security industry, and a regulatory framework that is among the most developed globally.
The security environment
The UK terrorism threat level is SEVERE, meaning an attack is judged highly likely. London has experienced multiple significant attacks: Westminster Bridge (2017), London Bridge and Borough Market (2017), Manchester Arena (2017). The current threat comes primarily from Islamist extremism and lone actor attacks. This is the backdrop against which London events are planned.
The specific risk to corporate events is lower than the national threat level implies for most events. The vast majority of London corporate conferences proceed without incident. However, the threat is real, and the Counter Terrorism Policing guidance on Protect Duty makes clear that event organisers have responsibilities that go beyond hiring a door supervisor.
Planning for London events
The UK has a developed private security regulatory framework. All close protection officers must hold a current SIA licence. Working with unlicensed operators is illegal and creates unlimited liability for the event organiser. Our operator network holds current SIA close protection and door supervisor licences as a minimum.
Vehicle exclusion is a standard consideration for London events in central locations. The 2017 vehicle ramming attacks demonstrated that vehicle access management is an operational requirement rather than an aesthetic choice.
For events on politically sensitive topics, protest risk assessment is part of the planning process. London’s protest culture is active and Protected protests can affect venue access and event logistics.
