Secure Airport Transfers in Khartoum

Planning support for Sudan operations. Khartoum Airport is non-operational since April 2023. Current gateway is Port Sudan. FCDO advises against all travel to Sudan.

Khartoum International Airport (KRT) has been non-operational since April 2023 when civil war broke out between the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF). The airport sustained significant damage and no commercial flights operate into or out of KRT. The FCDO advises against all travel to Sudan as of 2026, and the US State Department maintains a Level 4 Do Not Travel advisory. No ground transfer into Khartoum is viable under current conditions.

The current Sudan gateway: Port Sudan

Port Sudan International Airport (PZU) on the Red Sea coast is the operational gateway for Sudan, receiving limited international services from Addis Ababa, Cairo, Dubai, and Jeddah. Port Sudan is assessed as less affected by active conflict than Khartoum but the all-Sudan advisory applies throughout the country. Any access to Port Sudan requires coordinated security support, and onward movement beyond Port Sudan requires exceptional coordination with relevant security and diplomatic frameworks.
